How to prepare
This is a day-care procedure performed under live imaging guidance, which uses a small dose of X-rays — tell our team if you are pregnant or think you might be. Do not eat for 6 hours beforehand; small sips of water are usually allowed. Carry a recent coagulation profile (PT/INR) and platelet count, and tell our team about any blood-thinning medicine you take — your doctor may ask you to stop it for a few days first. Please bring your prescription and previous scans, and come with an adult who can take you home afterwards. Some procedures need a further step such as bowel preparation or a medicine started beforehand — our team will confirm anything specific to your procedure when the appointment is booked.
