What is Pelvic Doppler?
A Colour Doppler study of the uterus, ovaries and the vessels supplying them. Flow within a fibroid, around an ovarian cyst or within the endometrium is assessed alongside the picture, which often settles a question a plain ultrasound leaves open.
When is this test advised?
Commonly requested for heavy or irregular periods, pelvic pain, a fibroid whose blood supply matters before treatment, suspected ovarian torsion, and as part of a fertility work-up. Your doctor decides whether this specific study is right for you.
What does it evaluate?
Blood supply to a fibroid or an ovarian lesion, ovarian arterial flow and any sign of torsion, uterine artery waveform, endometrial thickness and its vascularity.

How to prepare
How you prepare depends on which route is used, so read this carefully. For a study over the abdomen, come with a full bladder — drink 3–4 glasses of water about an hour before and do not pass urine after that. For a transvaginal study, do the opposite: pass urine just before, since it needs an empty bladder. If you are not sure which one your doctor has asked for, message us and we will confirm. No fasting is needed either way, a female attendant is present throughout a transvaginal study, and colour Doppler uses sound waves, not radiation. Please bring your prescription and any previous scans or reports of the same area.
