What is Penile Doppler?
A Colour Doppler study of the arteries and veins of the penis, measuring how well blood flows in and how well it is held. Some protocols require a small injection given at the centre before the readings are taken, because the flow can only be assessed properly in the erect state.
When is this test advised?
Commonly requested in the investigation of erectile difficulty to tell an arterial cause from a venous leak, after pelvic injury or surgery, and in Peyronie's disease or a suspected priapism. Your doctor decides whether this specific study is right for you.
What does it evaluate?
Peak systolic and end-diastolic velocities in the cavernosal arteries, the difference between the two sides, evidence of venous leak, and any plaque or fibrosis in the tunica.

How to prepare
Some protocols for this study need a small injection given at the centre beforehand; whether that applies to you is your doctor's decision, and our team will confirm it — along with anything you should avoid on the day — when the appointment is booked.
